I really got sucked into the torture Bianca suffered. Maybe the author had a wordlimit she had to keep under.

This book was very interesting. There is no cohesive plot, just events that happen with a bit of randomness thrown in out of left-field towards the end. Eventually, the two feel their love can no longer be denied and they depart for Constantinople.

I think there will always be books that resonate with some and not so much with others. Her first husband who she is repulsed by the descriptions are really vulgar and brutal- you feel legitimately sick for this poor girl. This title was on my TBR for quite a while, and I’ve decided to have it begin my goal of reading all of Bertice Small’s books.

You’d think she would make up her mind what she wanted to focus her book on, but instead it was like reading several mini stories as part of a larger story, however, the larger story was the only one without a true climax. Conflicts arise and are easily settled within a page of being mentioned as the narrative trips along in a jarring way which weakens any attempt at presenting drama or tension.
